The plane touched down at Capital Airport. Zhang Xu, utterly exhausted both physically and mentally, stepped out of the first-class cabin. Throughout the journey, he had been explaining the principles of aviation to Mr. Arthur Weasley, which proved to be a daunting task—ranging from aerodynamic design to the mechanics of jet engines. Fortunately, Zhang Xu had acquired a wealth of knowledge from online forums in his previous life, which sufficed to satisfy Mr. Weasley's insatiable curiosity. Professor McGonagall, who was also present, listened with keen interest. Zhang Xu, feeling overwhelmed, hadn't anticipated that these two individuals were the special envoys dispatched by the British Ministry of Magic. Upon reflection, the choice of Arthur Weasley made sense. The Weasley family is a prominent pure-blood wizarding family, highly respected in the magical community. Additionally, Arthur Weasley harbors a deep fascination and friendliness toward the Muggle world, making him an ideal representative for a nation where the magical and non-magical realms coexist harmoniously. Furthermore, as a director at the Ministry of Magic, his rank was appropriate for such a high-level diplomatic mission. The other envoy, Professor McGonagall, served as a representative for both Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the Ministry of Magic. Her appointment was logical, given that Hogwarts had initiated the groundbreaking dialogue between the East and the West. As the deputy headmistress, her role as an envoy was fitting. After disembarking, and with Arthur Weasley casting a longing glance back at the aircraft, the group proceeded through the VIP channel, where they were met by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education. Once Arthur Weasley and Professor McGonagall were escorted to their awaiting car, Zhang Xu boarded another vehicle. He still had tasks to attend to. The car transported Zhang Xu to a secluded compound on the outskirts of the capital. Unmarked and heavily guarded, such compounds typically house critical, classified government departments or institutions. In his assigned room, Zhang Xu sat before a 386 computer, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he composed a work report. The staff member delivering dinner couldn't help but admire Zhang Xu's focus and proficiency at the computer. In 1992, computers were still a rarity for most people, and many struggled with basic typing. Zhang Xu's adeptness at such a young age left an impression of awe and respect. By nearly ten o'clock that evening, Zhang Xu finally completed his report. After a thorough review, he saved the file and handed over the 3.5-inch disk containing the document to the duty office. With that, his work for the day was done. After grabbing a bowl of noodles from the cafeteria, Zhang Xu brewed himself a large cup of tea at the hot water dispenser. He then made his way to the small garden near his dormitory, where he sat on a stone bench by the pond, sipping tea and reflecting on various thoughts—a ritual he used to unwind. Before long, an elderly man in a traditional Chinese tunic suit joined him. "Nice tea," the man remarked in a deep voice. "Grandpa Zhou, this tea was a gift from Mr. Zhao. It's the last of my stash," Zhang Xu replied. The man, whom Zhang Xu addressed as Grandpa Zhou, appeared to be in his sixties. His sharp eyes contrasted with his white hair, and his angular face bore the marks of time, with a slight stoop to his posture. Zhang Xu knew that Grandpa Zhou was a legendary figure in the intelligence community, one of those unsung heroes whose contributions remain largely unknown to the public. "How's life over there?" Grandpa Zhou inquired. "It's like walking on thin ice," Zhang Xu sighed. "Can you handle it?" Grandpa Zhou asked with concern. "After the initial phase, things have stabilized," Zhang Xu replied. As a trailblazer, Zhang Xu's role extended beyond that of an international student; he was also tasked with gathering and analyzing information from the British wizarding community's public media and private communications. Before Zhang Xu's mission, the Eastern and Western magical communities had been largely ignorant of each other. China's knowledge of the Western magical world was primarily derived from interrogations of captured Death Eaters, while the West's understanding of China was equally limited. Many magical creatures native to China were unknown to the West, and Zhang Xu often joked that he hadn't even tasted some of them.
